In the first half of 2023, Sullivan & Cromwell led all law firm advisers in announced global and U.S. deals, according to Bloomberg and Refinitiv. The Firm advised on announced deals totaling $210 billion worldwide, representing a 15.8 percent market share, based on data from Refinitiv.

Melissa Sawyer, Global Head of M&A, told The American Lawyer that the firm has “been staying busy” because of its diverse practice. “We’ve been able to flex our creativity by porting over techniques from different geographies and different industries to get deals done, even when we’ve faced tricky macro or regulatory challenges,” she said.
