Nader Mousavi, Co-Head of S&C’s Intellectual Property and Technology Group, was featured in an in-depth profile by The Recorder about his role as a technology deal lawyer at the forefront of the generative artificial intelligence revolution. Nader was recently named “Attorney of the Year” at The Recorder’s California Legal Awards for his role advising artificial intelligence platforms OpenAI and Characer.ai in strategic partnerships.
Nader said his philosophy when representing clients is to be practical, responsive, business-oriented and willing to offer his best judgment, all of which he learned as an in-house lawyer early in his career. “You have to truly know the business of your clients and what makes them tick,” said Nader, who is a partner in S&C’s Palo Alto office.
Throughout his career, Nader has advised on key deals that have laid the groundwork for generative AI, and recently led the S&C team that represented OpenAI—the company behind ChatGPT and Dall-E—in its multibillion partnership with Microsoft and Character.ai, a leading conversational AI platform, on its strategic partnership with Google Cloud.
