Melissa Sawyer, M&A partner and co-head of the Firm’s Corporate Governance & Activism Practice, and associates Lauren Boehmke and Nathaniel Ludewig co-authored the article “Trends in Shareholder Activism” in the recent May/June 2019 edition of The Corporate Governance Advisor. The authors built a succinct, comprehensive study of contemporary issues in corporate governance based in S&C’s recent publication, “Review and Analysis of 2018 U.S. Shareholder Activism.” Several of the trends discussed include the role of purpose in activism, the potential for civility, regulatory constraints, and cutting-edge shareholder communications during activism campaigns.
