On November 14, Anthony Lewis, member of S&C’s Cybersecurity Group, participated in Sandpiper Partners LLC’s Cybersecurity and Privacy conference on “Convergence in a World of Increasing Cyber Attacks and Data Breaches” in New York City. Anthony spoke on a panel titled “Critical Risks and Government Perspectives,” which addressed the priorities of various regulators regarding cyber enforcement and how to work with these regulators if a company suspects a breach has occurred. The panel also reviewed specific cases of cyber breaches, and discussed controls that address cybersecurity risk. Other panelists included Justin Shibayama Herring, Executive Deputy Superintendent of the Cybersecurity Division of the New York Department of Financial Services; Richard Jacobs, Assistant Special Agent in Charge at the Federal Bureau of Investigation; Maneesha Mithal, Associate Director of the Division of Privacy and Identity Protection at the Federal Trade Commission; and Carolyn Welshhans, Associate Director of the Division of Enforcement of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
