S&C was named a Project Finance “Practice Group of the Year” by Law360. In an interview with the publication, Stewart Robertson and Inosi Nyatta, Co-Heads of the Firm’s global Project Development & Finance Practice, cited the Firm’s interdisciplinary training and focus on problem-solving as integral to handling both traditional project finance matters and energy transition deals. “[We've] come into the energy transition space with a lot of exciting transactions because clients have brought us in to help figure out these transactions that no one has really done before,” Inosi said.
The firm recently advised Sempra Infrastructure Partners in its $7 billion project financing of the Port Arthur LNG Phase 1 project, which bolsters Sempra’s position as a leader in the global transition to more sustainable energy sources; Mongolian mining company Oyu Tolgoi in refinancing $3.9 billion in senior debt obligations; and Chevron U.S.A. in acquiring a majority interest in ACES Delta, a joint venture developing green hydrogen in Utah. “The hydrogen value chain is very complicated with multiple moving parts,” Stewart said. "[In] that respect, it's not dissimilar from the LNG value chain. So our skill set from LNG projects transfers over very nicely.”
S&C was named a “Firm of the Year” for its showing in these awards, tied for the most distinctions with nine practices selected.
