S&C was named a Banking “Practice Group of the Year” by Law360. In an interview with the publication, Stephen Salley, a partner in S&C’s Financial Services Group, credited the Firm’s success advising financial services clients to its generalist foundation and focus on training attorneys capable of providing multidisciplinary, multifaceted advice. “[N]ot only does that give a lot of confidence to the client that there are no blind spots caused by different silos of knowledge or expertise, but also the highest-quality advice can be [provided] when someone understands the whole,” Salley said.
The Firm recently advised Credit Suisse in its $3.3 billion merger with UBS, the first merger of two global, systemically important banks since the 2008 financial crisis, and PacWest in its merger with Banc of California. S&C also helped Wells Fargo reach a global settlement with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau that resolved novel consumer protection issues.
S&C was named a “Firm of the Year” for its showing in these awards, tied for the most distinctions with nine practices selected.
