Morgan Ratner has been named a “D.C. Rising Star” by The National Law Journal. The award recognizes the Washington, D.C., region’s top 40 lawyers age 40 and under.
Morgan is a partner in the Firm’s Litigation Group and a member of the Firm’s Supreme Court and Appellate Practice. Morgan has argued nine times before the U.S. Supreme Court, most recently this past term as court-appointed amicus curiae to successfully defend the Eighth Circuit’s judgment in the habeas corpus case Jones v. Hendrix. In one of the most closely watched securities cases in years, Morgan played a key role on the S&C team that helped Goldman Sachs reverse the class certification of a $13 billion securities case in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit after securing a rare third discretionary Rule 23(f) appeal. She also obtained a major victory for Spirit AeroSystems before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, vacating a $45 million trial verdict awarded to Spirit’s former CEO in a contract dispute.
Morgan is an active member of S&C’s Women’s Initiative Committee and works to address the under-representation of women in the Supreme Court bar and appellate bar generally.
