Juan Rodriguez, co-head of S&C’s European Competition practice and the Firm’s Antitrust practice, spoke at the Advanced EU Competition Law Conference. This conference, now in its 30th year, brings together regulators, in-house counsel, lawyers, and economists to discuss policies around competition law and help shape strategies for the future. Juan spoke on the panel “The Green Deal, Sustainability & Competition Policy.” Topics discussed included how competition policy can support the objectives of the Green Deal; the Commission’s approach to collaboration for sustainability aims; national initiatives such as what the Netherlands, Greece, and Austria are doing; and philosophical questions such as how competition policy should respond in situations where the good of the individual is not necessarily consistent with the good of society. The conference was held on November 23 and 24th in Brussels. To learn more about the event, click here.
