Sharon Nelles, the managing partner of S&C’s Litigation Group, has been named a 2019 “Litigator of the Year” by
The American Lawyer. The award recognizes Sharon for her versatility as a lawyer and the quality of her work, as well as her recent successes in antitrust dismissals, constitutional cases and settlements in the financial services industry.
Only eight other litigators were selected for the award. The publication commended Sharon for the dismissal of an
antitrust class action suit for Volkswagen and Audi, a
landmark ruling protecting consumer data on behalf of Airbnb and a successful oral argument before the Ninth Circuit that preserved a
$10 billion settlement for Volkswagen, among other work.
She is described as “an advocate for diversity and the protection of women,” and lauded for advising on JPMorgan Chase’s “Leading with Diversity” program.
Sharon also recently won the
Shira A. Scheindlin Award for Excellence, a
Law360 MVP award in Securities and a
Euromoney Women in Business Law Americas award for
“Best in Litigation.”
