For the third time, Sullivan & Cromwell has been recognized as one of Law360’s Banking Practice Groups of the Year for 2019. The annual awards recognize top law firms for their work on deals or litigation that are notable for their size, complexity or significance.
The Firm advises many of the world’s largest financial services institutions on their most crucial matters, including transactions, regulatory matters, litigation, investigations and enforcement actions.
Mitch Eitel, managing partner of S&C’s Financial Services Group, highlighted this “multidisciplinary strategy” in Law360’s practice profile. "We all work together every day throughout the practice in order to produce the best results for our clients,” said Mitch. “That level of teamwork, coordination, cooperation and communication among us is really important, because it's part of our culture and it's part of our culture that we think benefits our clients."
Last year’s highlights of the banking practice include:
- Advising clients in the five largest bank M&A transactions in 2019
- Guiding Fiserv through its acquisition of First Data to create one of the world's leading payments and financial technology providers
- Steering UBS through a bold strategy that ended in the complete defeat of Enron-related litigation, capping a 17-year legal dispute
- Guiding banks through the nuances of the charter process, including helping online bank Varo secure groundbreaking preliminary approval to organize under a national bank charter.
