Steven Peikin, the head of Sullivan & Cromwell’s Securities & Commodities Investigations & Enforcement Practice, participated on a January 19 panel hosted by Stanford Law School’s Rock Center, “Whistleblowers, Ethics and Compliance.” The panelists discussed recent changes to the SEC’s whistleblower program, as well as the program’s impact on enforcement and corporate whistleblower activity. Steve and the other panelists offered their thoughts on strategies for companies to implement effective internal whistleblowing procedures and foster a more ethical “speak up” culture, and on the role of the board and C-suite in furthering these objectives.
