Sharon Nelles Featured on Law.com’s “Legal Speak” Podcast

April 7, 2020

Sharon Nelles, managing partner of S&C's litigation group, was featured on Law.com's “Legal Speak” podcast, sharing with hosts Vanessa Blum and Leigh Jones an audio snapshot of her “new normal” working remotely during the Covid-19 pandemic. Sharon is working from home in New York and sheltering in place with her family. She told “Legal Speak” that the silver linings to the quarantine are many: “I am embracing new technology, every day is very casual Friday, and I have decided to go ahead and lean into my growing gray hair.”

“But the not at all surprising, primary silver lining is the affirmation of the resiliency of our lawyers, our staff and our community,” Sharon said. She noted that S&C's New York offices have experienced crises before, including the terrorist attacks of 9/11 and the damage caused by Superstorm Sandy. “Now, in the midst of a global pandemic, as a firm and as a profession, I see our best instincts reach worldwide. From colleagues covering for those needing to take care of small children, to arranging virtual coffees and cocktails for colleagues who are sheltering alone and feeling the isolation, to the tone of civility that now permeates almost all proceedings, to the many efforts to give back—from pro bono to blood donation and beyond. Every time the legal community is called to step up, it does—and this is no different.”

The podcast also features snapshots from others in the legal community, as well as an interview with Aparna Bawa, general counsel at Zoom. To listen to the full episode, click here.
