S&C Ranked Among Financial Times’ Most Innovative U.S. Firms

December 1, 2010

S&C was recognized in the Financial Times’ U.S. Innovative Lawyers Report, published on December 1. The survey, which was the inaugural issue and examined the state of innovation in the legal industry, ranked S&C among the top U.S. firms in the following categories:

  • Automotive, for helping Fiat create a plan to save Chrysler
  • Litigation, for successfully defending Microsoft against anti-trust claims
  • Pro bono, for S&C’s lead role two LBGT civil rights cases – Cole v. Arkansas and Gillman v. School Board for Holmes County, Florida.

The report’s introductory article observed the rankings reflect the importance of a well-rounded legal sensibility, quoting Mr. Giuffra, who told the FT that “a generalist approach produces better innovators than a specialist one.” The survey, which was conducted in conjunction with RSG Consulting, assessed matters on their originality, the legal strategy employed and the impact of the work on clients.
