Rita O’Neill and Scott Crofton joined the 17^th Annual Mergers & Acquisitions Institute, presented by the University of Texas School of Law Office of Continuing Legal Education. This event, which took place in Dallas and virtually on October 7-8, brought together speakers from across the country to discuss the latest deal trends, structures, pitfalls and opportunities in M&A. Rita moderated the discussion, “SPAC-tacular…or Not?” on October 7. The panel examined de-SPAC mergers; how they have changed over time; what regulators are focusing on; and where the SPAC market goes from here. On October 8, Scott joined “Deal Ethics,” a panel discussion of the less talked about but thornier ethical issues facing law firms representing multiple clients who regularly buy and sell companies.
