Alison Ressler, co-head of S&C’s Global
Private Equity Group, was again named among California’s “Top Women Lawyers” by the
Daily Journal. The list recognizes California women lawyers at the top of their practice. This is the third consecutive year that Alison, who is responsible for the Firm’s practice in California, has been named to the list, and the eighth time overall. Alison was also recently among just 10 lawyers
named to The Deal’s “Women in M&A: The Powerhouse 20,” and in March she was
named to the Los Angeles Business Journal’s “Business Hall of Fame.” The
Daily Journal praised Alison’s “legal acumen” in work on a diverse range of deals. In particular, her savvy representation of the board of directors of Rent-A-Center in an aborted merger transaction with Vintage Capital was singled out, with the publication praising her careful negotiation of a provision that allowed for her client to exit the deal if certain conditions were not met. “This is a very unique experience; very few deals that get signed up terminate,” Alison told the
Daily Journal. “It shows the value of closely negotiating provisions.” The article also featured Alison’s work mentoring women at S&C. “I think it has become part of the firm culture to really ensure that we do everything we can to make it the kind of environment where women can be as successful as men,” she said.
