On June 23, Lawfare published a blog post by Mr. Williamson titled, “Relitigating Guantánamo in the Context of Abu Khattala: A Different View.” In the post, Mr. Williamson argues that Abu Khattala can legally be sent to Guantánamo, explaining that he can be detained under law of war and, at least theoretically, tried by a military commission, and further that detention at Guantánamo does not rule out the possibility of a civil trial.
