Willard Taylor Authors Article in University of Florida Tax Review on Federal Income Tax Rules for Classifying Business Entities

January 10, 2017

In its final issue for 2016, the Florida Tax Review published an article by Willard Taylor titled “Can We Clean This Up? A Brief Journey Through the United States Rules for Taxing Business Entities.” The article summarizes the more than 80-year history of the U.S. federal income tax rules for classifying business entities and explores what has led to these rules. Willard then proposes possible changes that could be made, including a single tax system for non-publicly traded businesses, and rationalizing the treatment of foreign investment in the United States.
