Annie Ostrager, a partner in the
Litigation Group and a member of the Firm’s
Criminal Defense and Investigations Group, has authored the article “DOJ’s 2019 Enforcement Activities Demonstrate a Continued Commitment to FCPA Enforcement” in the
Anti-Corruption Report. The article charts trends for 2019, noting that “this year has been marked by a concentration of actions against individuals,” including enhanced focus on foreign government officials. Annie also explores trends in the DOJ’s willingness to grant declinations for companies that self-disclose, despite a number of major foreign bribery-related actions this year. In summation, Annie notes that, “companies that maintain robust compliance programs and quickly report potential violations they discover to the government should take some measure of comfort in knowing that their self-reporting and cooperation may very well ultimately lead to a favorable resolution with the DOJ.”
