Brent McIntosh Authors Column on Twitter’s Lawsuit Seeking to Disclose Details of US Government Surveillance Demands

April 16, 2015

On April 16, published the column, “‘The FBI Followed You’: Why Twitter’s Surveillance-Disclosure Lawsuit Puts U.S. Intel Agencies in a Quandary,” authored by Mr. McIntosh. The column discusses what companies classified as “communications providers,” such as Google and Facebook, are allowed to disclose about the requests they receive from the U.S. government for disclosure of information in connection with national security surveillance. It then describes how Twitter’s bid to disclose additional data about requests it receives could have wide-ranging consequences for what friend and foe alike can know about U.S. intelligence agencies’ capabilities.
