Diane McGimsey Authors Expert Q&A on Amicus Briefing for Practical Law

In its August/September 2016 issue, Practical Law published an article by Ms. McGimsey titled “Expert Q&A on Best Practices for Amicus Briefing.” The article explored the function and typical uses of amicus briefs in appellate litigation, as well the extent to which a party should be involved in the drafting of an amicus brief, the characteristics of an effective amicus brief and common pitfalls when drafting amicus briefs, among other topics. Ms. McGimsey also discussed the considerations that should go into whether to solicit the participation of an amicus and who to select as an amicus.
