December 8, 2009

Mr. Aquila published an article, “Corporate Governance: Don't Rush Reforms,” in BusinessWeek. The article discussed the role or lack thereof played by corporate governance in the recent economic downturn. As Mr. Aquila noted, although the relationship between shareholders and managers is not designed exclusively to prevent corporate failings, it does produce more successful businesses. The author pointed to board member independence and accurate public disclosure as key to successful corporate governance, and advised that straying too far from these principles is a risk. The article was also featured in BusinessWeek Insider, a weekly e-summary of the best of BusinessWeek and BusinessWeek.com.
