Mr. Aquila published an article on Corporate Board Member's magazine web site, “Corporate Governance Reform May be the Theme for 2010, but Caution Should be the Watchword.” Mr. Aquila noted that U.S. corporate boards are receiving increased attention as a result of the credit crisis, which has led to several corporate governance reform proposals. He discussed recent changes in corporate governance and pointed out that when considering new proposals “corporate governance should facilitate, rather than inhibit, the growth of a corporation’s business.” In order for a board to achieve its purpose, Mr. Aquila recommended that it stay true to fundamental elements of corporate governance, such as the independence of a majority and accurate, transparent public disclosure.
