Sam Woodall Discusses Financial Services Legislation in 114th Congress

December 2014

In its quarterly journal, Banking Perspective, The Clearing House featured an article written by Mr. Woodall titled, “The Art of the Possible: Prospects for Financial Services Legislation in the 114th Congress.” The article argues that, contrary to the prevailing opinion that the results of the 2014 midterm elections portend a bitterly partisan political stalemate over the next two years, there will be opportunities in the new Congress to enact meaningful (albeit targeted and incremental) financial services legislation. In addition, the article discusses the potential effect of the incoming Republican Congressional majority on regulatory implementation of the Dodd-Frank Act and Senate consideration of executive branch nominations.
