BQLT Honors Fred Rich, Ted Holt and Jeff Arbeit

November 12, 2014

On November 12, the Brooklyn Queens Land Trust (BQLT) honored Messrs. Rich, Holt and Arbeit for their work incorporating two independent community gardens into BQLT, thereby ensuring the land will be preserved and protected in perpetuity, while leaving the community in control of day-to-day garden operations. The awards were presented at BQLT’s first-ever fundraising reception in Bedford-Stuyvesant, which celebrated BQLT’s tenth anniversary. BQLT owns 33 gardens in 16 low-income neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Queens, at which more than 500 community gardeners grow food, garden and conduct programs for neighborhood youth.
