"Securities Suits Up in 2008, But Might They be Uphill Battles?"

SULLIVAN & CROMWELL LLP Partner Robert Giuffra was quoted in a post on The Wall Street Journal Law Blog suggesting that many of the securities lawsuits brought about by the mortgage crisis might be doomed by strong defense arguments.  Mr. Giuffra, who defends against securities class actions, said that “[p]laintiffs lawyers will face an uphill battle if they claim that every bank on Wall Street was engaged in a separate internal conspiracy to commit economic suicide.”
