On September 14, SULLIVAN & CROMWELL LLP Chairman Rodge Cohen attended President Obama's speech on regulatory reform for Wall Street at Federal Hall. Mr. Cohen appeared on the White House's list of attendees, “Members of the Financial and Consumer Advocacy Communities,” as noted by The Wall Street Journal. In connection with the speech, Mr. Cohen was interviewed by CNBC in a television segment titled, “The Other Side of the Coin.” The segment discussed whether it is possible for Congress to address both healthcare and financial reform, and Mr. Cohen said “There is enough bandwidth and they can be done sequentially rather than simultaneously.” When asked if financial reform was more important than healthcare reform, Mr. Cohen said, “Healthcare–universal health is desperately needed–we need to get there, that's more important than anything.” It was noted that Mr. Cohen believes financial reform is necessary as well.
