Sullivan & Cromwell to Commence Hong Kong Law Practice and Announces Kay Ian Ng and Gwen Wong to Join the FirmJune 16, 2011
Sullivan & Cromwell LLP announced today that it will commence the practice of Hong Kong law later this year and that Kay Ian Ng and Gwen Wong will join the Firm as partners after the Firm has completed the necessary regulatory
measures relating to the start of the Hong Kong law practice. Mr. Ng will be resident in the Hong Kong office, and Ms. Wong will be resident in the Beijing office.

Mr. Ng concentrates his practice in capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory compliance and corporate advisory matters in Greater China and Southeast Asia for both public and private companies and financial institutions. Mr. Ng has advised on more than 25 IPOs on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, including many recent landmark transactions across various industries and sectors. His M&A experience and his impressive knowledge of the Hong Kong Takeovers Code are equally robust. Mr. Ng is qualified to practice law in Hong Kong, England and Wales, and Malaysia and is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese.
Ms. Wong focuses her practice on representing major corporations and financial institutions and investment banks in complex securities offerings, public and private mergers and acquisitions, corporate advisory matters and regulatory compliance. In particular, Ms. Wong has advised on many Hong Kong IPOs and potential candidates on their possible listings on the International Board of the Shanghai Stock Exchange and on spin-off listings on the Australian Stock
Exchange. Ms. Wong has also played a major role in a number of high-profile cross-border M&A transactions, including advising a consortium that won a bid to acquire a significant financial institution in the Greater China region and representing the seller in one of the largest completed sales of a bank in Hong Kong. In addition, Ms. Wong was involved in the successful defence of a Hong Kong listed company that was the target of a hostile takeover battle.
