Marc Trevino Quoted in Wall Street Journal Article on Wall Street Executive Compensation Rules

March 23, 2016

On March 23, Mr. Trevino was quoted in a Wall Street Journal article, titled “Wall Street Faces New Rules on Pay.” The article discussed federal regulators' imminent plans to codify rules regarding financial services executive bonus deferrals, regulations that some think are long overdue in the wake of the Dodd-Frank Act. However, many in the financial services industry point out that banks have already been cooperating with regulators since the financial crisis to reform executive compensation practices and to deter risky behavior. Introducing a single set of codified rules for a diverse industry, they argue, would halt progress. “A regulation that established specific requirements could actually freeze best practices where they are today, which we have seen happen in other areas of compensation regulation and would be unfortunate and counterproductive,” said Mr. Trevino.
