S&C partner Marc Treviño, managing partner of the Firm's Executive Compensation Group and co-head of the Firm's corporate governance practice, was interviewed by DirectorCorps in an episode of Looking Ahead titled “Preventing the Compensation Crisis.” In the interview, Marc discusses elements that can contribute to a compensation crisis.
 
When a compensation-related problem arises, Marc says, the key to successful resolution is getting the board involved early. “I think it's important for the board to act quickly and decisively, and to communicate their outcome—even if the decision is distasteful, or the lesser of two evils. … It's important to recognize early on if you're in a situation like this. You don't want the vacuum to be created where everyone else is speaking, but the board isn't.”
