The Am Law Daily Names Joe Frumkin and Eric Krautheimer “Dealmakers of the Week”

March 25, 2011

On March 25, The Am Law Daily featured Mr. Frumkin and Mr. Krautheimer as “Dealmakers of the Week” for their role in representing AT&T Inc. in its planned purchase of T-Mobile USA from Germany's Deutsche Telekom. The transaction was announced March 20. “After negotiations that took about three weeks, the companies signed an agreement on Sunday that would create the country's largest wireless carrier,” Am Law reported. AT&T is currently the nation's second-largest cellular carrier, with approximately 95.5 million wireless subscribers, and the combined companies would have almost 130 million subscribers. As noted by Am Law, Mr. Frumkin and Mr. Krautheimer have worked together on several AT&T transactions since the mid 1990s, together advising on more than $200 billion worth of telecommunications M&A deals. The longstanding relationship with AT&T and familiarity with the deal team involved made advising on this highly complex deal much easier for Mr. Frumkin and Mr. Krautheimer. “Once the business deal came together, we were able to document things rather rapidly,” Mr. Krautheimer said. Mr. Frumkin underscored the great history of success AT&T has with completing its transactions. “They have closed every deal they have ever signed up--100 percent,” he said.
