Andrew Mason spoke about high-tax states' attempts to remedy the tax reform bill's $10,000 cap on the federal deduction for state and local taxes at a Manhattan Institute panel, which was then covered in the Forbes article titled “Preserving The State And Local Tax Deduction: Bad News.” Andrew discussed three different approaches to the issue, as well as their possible drawbacks, saying of New York State's idea of broadening the unincorporated business tax will likely go nowhere, and that “[w]ithout reciprocity from Connecticut and New Jersey it would be an absolute disaster.”
