Karen Seymour and Rick Pepperman Interviewed on Current State of Investigations and Commercial Litigation

December 5, 2014

On December 5, Ms. Seymour and Mr. Pepperman were interviewed by Lee Pacchia on Mimesis Law about the current state of investigations and commercial litigation. Ms. Seymour and Mr. Pepperman discussed the increase in investigations since the credit crises in the United States and internationally. Mr. Pepperman noted the increase in civil litigation, including class action and shareholder litigation, which often follows the investigation. The interview covered trends in the white collar space, specifically highlighting the role of Whistleblowers in referring new matters, the potential rise in M&A litigation and the new wave of antitrust litigation as market activity increases. Ms. Seymour and Mr. Pepperman said that litigators, along with S&C lawyers across the board, work hand in hand with their corporate clients to learn about their business in order to predict what issues may arise in the future, and how to best prevent unnecessary litigation.
