S&C Partner Renata Hesse Quoted in Bloomberg Law on Associate Attorney General Vacancy

May 17, 2019

S&C litigation partner Renata Hesse was quoted in the Bloomberg Law article “Justice's No. 3 Slot Is Soon to be Vacant – Once Again.” The piece describes the Justice Department's search for a new candidate to fill its Associate Attorney General position. Speaking from her prior experience leading the Antitrust Division at the Department of Justice twice as Acting Assistant Attorney General, Renata explains that while acting AGs aren't typically hindered in their decision-making, it's possible to have a “different situation where someone is warming the chair, so to speak.“ Still, she believes Senate-confirmed leadership provides "continuity and predictability [which] are the things that are most important to career staff.”
To hear more of Renata's thoughts, listen to her recent guest spot on the S&C Critical Insights podcast, in which she discusses recent antitrust developments at the DOJ and FTC.
