October 17, 2017

On October 17, New York University School of Law published a profile of Nicole Friedlander on its web site titled “Nicole Friedlander '01 focuses on fraud and cybercrime.” Nicole spoke about her legal career path, from her time at NYU Law to her tenure as Chief of the Complex Frauds and Cybercrime Unit of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York to her current role as special counsel focusing on criminal defense, government investigations and cybersecurity at S&C. She also discussed the challenges companies face in cybersecurity. “The cybersecurity challenge for companies is multifaceted,” she said. “What cybercriminals are seeking to steal has changed dramatically in the last decade and continues to change, and in the case of a breach, companies can be in the position of having to deal with not only the direct effects of the crime, but also the collateral consequences, which can include civil litigation and government investigations.”
