Law360 Publishes 2016 Practice Group of the Year Profile of S&C Banking Practice

February 2, 2017

On February 2, Law360 published a 2016 Practice Group of the Year profile of S&C's banking practice. The article covered many of S&C's most significant matters in the banking space over the past year, including work for clients JPMorgan Chase & Co. and BNP Paribas. Mitchell Eitel explained how S&C's multidisciplinary approach can serve banking clients across a range of transactional and litigation matters. “Like many of my colleagues I do M&A work, securities work and regulatory and enforcement work for bank clients, and I've always been trained to do that,” he said. “If you go into doing an M&A transaction for a bank fully understanding the regulatory framework that surrounds it, that really enables you to provide a level of advice to the client that they just can't get when you have multiple attorneys in silos on the deal. In that way, our service is seamless.”
Sharon Nelles also explained how S&C's practice focuses on anticipating and avoiding legal challenges whenever possible. “What we do is look at the issues that are facing clients in a very holistic way and identify broader challenges and develop early strategies so our clients can navigate these very difficult situations,” she said. “We want to make sure that, at the end of the day, they are not facing an investigation or private litigation.”
