Rodgin Cohen Quoted in American Banker Article on 2-for-1 Rollback Executive Order

January 31, 2017

On January 31, Rodgin Cohen was quoted in an American Banker article titled “What does Trump's 2-for-1 reg rollback mean for financial institutions?” The article explored the possible outcomes of President Trump's executive order requiring every “executive department or agency” to relinquish two regulations for every new one proposed. Rodgin said that the executive order could be a worthwhile exercise, even if it does little more than reduce regulatory clutter, as well as unenforced and obsolete rules. “It's ironic, in a way,” he said, “that the regulators dislike complexity in banks. The converse is, banks dislike complexity in regulation. So maybe we should all look for a simpler regulatory model.”
