Robert Chu, Burr Henly and Wally Jones Profiled in Australia Financial ReviewApril 10, 2015
On April 10, Australia Financial Review profiled Messrs. Chu, Henly and Jones in the article, “Americans Overarching Angels in Capital Markets,” as part of its Best Lawyers 2015 report. The article reviews the high-volume of work S&C's Australian offices are covering as U.S. counsel, particularly in the past year with clients seeking their advice on U.S. debt or equity capital markets as companies access the large and relatively inexpensive U.S. debt markets, public listings increase and deal flow escalates. Mr. Jones said, “Some Australian firms have debt markets capability but not the full range of U.S. legal services clients require for complex financings...[w]e can help companies borrow offshore at relatively low interest rates with longer maturities than they can obtain in the Australian bank or bond markets.” Despite the competition, Mr. Chu added that S&C has strong relationships with rival firms and local counsel, and has no plans to compete with local firms on the Australian law front. Messrs. Chu, Henly and Jones have each been recognized as Best Lawyers in Australia.
