On January 19, Frank Aquila was quoted in the FT Due Diligence newsletter in an article titled “New Cfius bill expanding oversight of inbound Chinese M&A has dealmakers on edge.” Frank spoke about the approval by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. (CFIUS) of the buyout of Pennsylvania-based Akrion Systems by Chinese state-owned company Naura, the first Chinese takeover of a U.S. company approved by the Trump Administration so far. “Standing alone it is not a trend, but at least it is a start and hopefully a signal that transactions will be reviewed based on their fundamentals rather than simply rejected because the buyer is from China,” Frank said.
