S&C Partner Frank Aquila Discusses M&A Insights with Financial TimesDecember 11, 2019
S&C M&A partner Frank Aquila was interviewed by the Financial Times on the skills that great deals lawyers must cultivate to succeed. He said that the primary concern of a top M&A lawyer is to ensure that the deal will work. “There are plenty of good deal lawyers in the world who, when confronted with challenging facts, will tell a client that it is impossible to complete a transaction,” he told the FT. “The mark of an excellent deal lawyer is to be innovative and find a way that it will work.” He added that, more than just providing legal advice, M&A lawyers should be trusted advisers to their clients. “Sophisticated clients don't really want pure legal advice, they want practical advice that is actionable,” he said.
