S&C partner Matt Hurd and associate Lauren Boehmke have authored an article for Corporate Secretary examining the ways in which the roles and responsibilities of general counsel have changed in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The article, “How Covid-19 is changing the general counsel’s leadership role,” explains that the GC has an important role to play in managing the company’s planning processes and board relations, and must also remain involved in the execution of the firm’s plans to mitigate litigation and compliance risk. The article explains the importance of the GC’s role in board succession planning, HR protocols, compliance and technology infrastructure, supply chain management, dealing with activists, and providing guidance to investors.
