Steve Hsieh is an associate in the Firm’s Litigation Group.  His practice focuses on white-collar criminal defense and complex intellectual property litigation.  Mr. Hsieh has represented companies under investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Treasury, and the New York State Department of Financial Services.  Mr. Hsieh has an active pro bono practice that includes representing clients in federal and state courts in both civil and criminal matters. 

Mr. Hsieh is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.  He clerked for Hon. William F. Kuntz, II, for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.


  • JPMorgan Chase & Co. in reaching coordinated resolutions with the DOJ, CFTC, and SEC, resolving investigations of alleged “spoofing” by JPMorgan traders in the precious metals and U.S. treasuries markets, and manipulation of precious metals barrier options
  • BlackBerry in asserting patent claims relating to the 3G and LTE mobile wireless standards
  • Volkswagen in multidistrict litigations in San Francisco regarding allegations that certain of their diesel vehicles emitted nitrogen oxides in excess of the limits imposed by U.S. law
  • Multiple financial institutions in criminal and regulatory investigations relating to money laundering, sanctions,  and BSA/AML violations
