Bob Risoleo, who joined Sullivan & Cromwell in 1985 and was a partner of the Firm from 1992 to 2020, has been a trusted advisor to clients for over 35 years. A member of the firm’s Capital Markets and Finance and Restructuring Groups, Bob pursued a broad transactional practice encompassing corporate finance, structured finance, acquisitions, joint ventures and restructurings, representing U.S. and foreign corporations, sovereign governments and state-owned enterprises, and multilateral development banks. Bob’s corporate finance matters included hundreds of debt and equity offerings, securitizations of receivables and other collateral, complex tax-based financing and investment structures utilizing swaps and other derivatives, and the development of innovative preferred stock products and structured notes. He has also advised many foreign and domestic enterprises with respect to governance, disclosure and other compliance matters.
Bob has been recognized as a leading lawyer for corporate and securities work by The Best Lawyers in America and for securities work by Chambers, IFLR1000, and The Legal 500 Latin America. He is a two-time recipient of the International Law Office’s Client Choice Award for Capital Markets (U.S.).
Bob remains active in the study and development of practice in the delivery of legal opinions in corporate transactions as Co-Chair of the TriBar Opinion Committee, a Director of the Working Group on Legal Opinions Foundation, and a member of the Legal Opinions Committee of the ABA Business Law Section.
