Gary Israel is a member of the Firm’s Investment Management, Commercial Real Estate and Financial Services groups. Mr. Israel engages in a wide variety of corporate, real estate and regulatory matters including advising private investment funds and management companies in connection with their formation, governance, operations and transactional matters, advising financial institutions with respect to fund-related Volcker Rule restrictions and other matters, and advising a broad spectrum of clients on a wide variety of corporate and real estate transactions.
Mr. Israel has represented CIM Group, Lazard Alternative Investments, Vornado Realty Trust and The Goldman Sachs Group in connection with the formation of several private investment funds, various fund administration matters and many related transactional matters. Mr. Israel has also represented three of the largest Asian sovereign wealth funds in several large investments in a number of large private equity funds. In addition, Mr. Israel has represented The Federal Reserve Bank of New York in its first ever acquisition of troubled assets, the American International Group in connection with the restructuring of the U.S. government’s investment in the company, Barclays Bank PLC in connection with the transfer of a multi-billion dollar portfolio of real estate related assets and securities, CIM Group in connection with the formation of Cantor Commercial Real Estate Company L.P. and JPMorgan Chase in connection with certain private investment fund-related matters raised by the Volcker Rule.
