Earl Weiner has been a senior counsel since 2017, of counsel from 2007 to 2016, and partner prior to 2007, of the law firm Sullivan & Cromwell LLP. He has broad experience in international financial and investment transactions, having represented clients in Latin America, Asia, Australia and Europe in connection with cross-border securities offerings, acquisitions, joint ventures and major contract negotiations.
Mr. Weiner has extensive experience in the investment management area representing registered investment companies and their independent directors. He serves as an independent director and chairman of the Governance and Nominating Committee of the AllianceBernstein funds. He has been a member of the American Bar Association Task Force on the “Fund Director’s Guidebook” and is the co-author of “Directors’ Duties and the Discount,” 8 Investment Lawyer 1 (2001).
Mr. Weiner is chairman of the board of Theatre Development Fund and of The Acting Company and is the chairman emeritus and a current trustee of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. He is a director and general counsel of the Municipal Art Society of New York City and serves as a trustee of The Brooklyn Hospital Center and Green-Wood Cemetery.
Mr. Weiner served as an officer in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1965.
