Jay Clayton, Karen Seymour and Renata Hesse to Speak at Stanford Directors’ CollegeJune 23-24, 2021
Jay Clayton, Karen Seymour and Renata Hesse will join the Stanford Directors’ College, to be held online from June 21-24. This event brings together CEOs, directors, regulators, lawyers and scholars to discuss the issues confronting modern boards.
Jay Clayton will join the plenary session, “Board Refreshment, Boardroom Culture, and Director Independence,” on June 23 at 9:55 a.m. PT. This session will discuss successful strategies for ensuring that companies are building and developing the best-performing board of directors given the company’s current and projected needs.
Karen Seymour’s session, “Preventing and Recovering from a Corporate Crisis,” will take place on June 24 at 9:55 a.m. PT. Discussion will focus on patterns common to board-level crisis situations, communications and the delegation of responsibility, as well as the value of tabletop exercises as a means of preparation. Participants will also discuss the need to balance legal concerns with the required responses to public, consumer and regulatory demands for information.
Renata Hesse will join the breakout session, “Big Tech’s War with D.C.: Looming Antitrust and Content Control Battles,” on June 24 at 11:20 a.m. PT. The panel will examine the origin of antitrust concerns about Big Tech, where regulation and enforcement may lead, and how corporations and boards should plan for potential outcomes.
