The Global Economy and Corporate Strategy
On June 21, Jay Clayton, S&C’s Senior Policy Counsel and former Chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission, delivered the Luncheon and Keynote Address. He also participated in a plenary session on “The Global Economy and Corporate Strategy,” which discussed how corporate directors can set strategy and evaluate evolving risk factors in an unpredictable global sociopolitical climate.
Board Refreshment, Boardroom Culture and Director Performance
On June 21, Sarah Payne, managing partner of Sullivan & Cromwell’s Palo Alto office and co-head of the Capital Markets Group and Technology M&A and Finance Group, participated in a breakout session on “Board Refreshment, Boardroom Culture and Director Performance.” Sarah’s panel discussed successful strategies for ensuring that companies are building and developing the best performing board of directors for current and projected needs.

Jay Clayton, who served as the Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, is a Senior Policy Advisor and Of Counsel to Sullivan & Cromwell. Jay’s practice centers on advising institutions, board of directors and individuals on governance, markets, regulatory and legislative matters, particularly where multidisciplinary advice and practical experience are valued. Jay serves as the Non-Executive Chairman of Apollo Global Management and is an Adjunct Professor at the Wharton Business School and Carey Law School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Sarah Payne is managing partner of Sullivan & Cromwell’s Palo Alto office and is co-head of the Capital Markets Group and Technology M&A and Finance Group.
