On September 13, S&C hosted its Sixth Annual European Restructuring Seminar at The Lansdowne Club in Mayfair, London. The seminar focused on “Global Political Discord and the Future of Restructuring.”
Chris Howard and Presley Warner delivered the opening remarks, and were followed by an eclectic panel acting as an open forum for the discussion of hot restructuring and distressed markets topics with prominent individuals from Goldman Sachs International, HPS Investment Partners, York Capital Management and the former National Practice Leader of Deloitte U.K.’s restructuring practice. Jeremy Paxman, a leading British journalist, author and contributing editor at the Financial Times, delivered a keynote speech and moderated the panel and Q&A.
The topics covered the industry’s perspective on the challenges to the European Union; contagion from emerging market economies; and growing trade protectionism emanating from the United States and China. Chris Beatty delivered the closing comments. Each attendee participated in an audience-wide Q&A with a personalized iPad, which enabled the attendees to interact with the panel. More than 80 clients from the European distressed investor and restructuring community attended.
