William Torchiana and Marion Leydier, Co-Heads of the Firm’s Global Insurance/Reinsurance Practice, Nicholas Menillo, Co-Head of S&C’s Insurance Coverage Group, and Roderick Gilman, Special Counsel in S&C’s Insurance Group, co-authored the Introduction (Global Overview) and USA Chapter of Lexology’s Panoramic: Insurance & Reinsurance 2025 (formerly Getting the Deal Through), a reference guide that provides a summary of local insurance and reinsurance legal and regulatory regimes for multiple jurisdictions.
The Introduction outlines regulatory developments across the global insurance sector, including throughout the EU and UK, as well as across the U.S. at the state and federal level. The USA Chapter provides an overview of key features of the U.S. insurance regulatory regime, including the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and state insurance regulators’ guidance on key industry topics such as race and diversity; potential unfair discrimination or bias stemming from the use of AI and big data; private equity-owned insurers; consumer privacy; and climate change.
