Rachel Yu and KJ Lim co-authored the article “Generative AI: Practical IP Considerations for Artists and AI Developers,” which was published as part of Bloomberg Law’s “Insights” series. The article discusses practical intellectual property considerations that artists and developers of artificial intelligence should take into account, amidst legal uncertainties surrounding AI-generated artworks. Angela Wu provided significant, valuable contributions to this article.
“While practitioners and scholars wrangle with legal issues like whether training AI on publicly available artworks is fair use and if AI-generated works are copyrightable, both visual artists who display their works online and AI developers who collect content to train their models could benefit from practical considerations in this uncertain terrain,” the authors write.
