Nic Bourtin, Managing Partner of S&C’s Criminal Defense & Investigations Group, served as editor of the thirteenth edition of The International Investigations Review, a Law Business Research publication. The text answers the most common questions and concerns that corporate counsel face in guiding their clients through criminal or regulatory investigations worldwide.
“Given the administration's stated focus on its corporate enforcement priorities, U.S. and non-U.S. corporations alike will continue to face increasing scrutiny by U.S. authorities,” Nic writes in the preface to The International Investigations Review.
Nic also co-authored, with Bailey Springer, the chapter focused on the United States. Nic and Bailey explore the interlocking regulatory and statutory regimes that corporations are subject to in the United States and discuss how regulatory agencies, including the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Internal Revenue Service, are empowered to act in response to a compliance lapse.
